Description:

Among the Turkemen, women’s temple rings are often called “tenetschir” (dragonfly). The jewelry is worn on the side of the hood. The base plate of the silver earring is reminiscent of a human figure and therefore bears the name “adamlyk“, derived from the Turkish-Arabic word “adham” for human or man. A flat, oval, orange carnelian is set in a frame in the lower area of the plate. The outer edge is adorned with two twisted wires. Eight chains go off the plate, ending in diamond-shaped decorative hollow silver pendants.

This one of a pair, used as a penant on an old silverchain from Southindia.
